Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC)
Insights Consulting, Inc. is seeking qualified self-motivated candidates who are compassionate, independent and believe in the capabilities of people over disabilities! Come join our growing MT department! Insights Consulting strongly believes in presuming competence in all people, and wants to empower people toward their best life-both clients and employees! The Board Certified Music Therapist will work primarily with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (Downs Syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory integration disorder, traumatic brain injury, visual/hearing impairment, dual diagnosis) of all ages (2-geriatric). Sessions will vary by funding source (Medicaid waiver, private pay, contracts, or grants) for home-based, site-based, or community based. Also opportunities to grow our private pay group opportunities including day programs, co=treatment with licensed therapists through our Clinic, schools and corporations. Group opportunities continue for our department, with a future plan to continue developing social groups, music therapy summer camps, goal centered groups (music and relaxation, music and anger management, music and spirituality, music and relationships, music and art, drum circles), music therapy performance classes (choirs, percussion groups, guitar groups, flag corps, dance teams, genre-specific bands) and 1:1 therapeutic instrument lessons (vocal lessons, guitar lessons, percussion lessons, piano lessons). MT-BC must have reliable transportation, a working computer (paperless documentation and billing) and flexibility in their schedules. MT-BC must subscribe to a clinical strengths based approach, be invested in the team process and demonstrate strong clinical skills and interpersonal communication skills for independent management of IDT participation.

Start Date:  Immediately; flexible if needed.  Targeting May 2017 for Northwestern Corridor of Indianapolis, and June 2017 for Southern Corridor of Indianapolis

Job Location/Catchment Area Positions:
With flexible hours, Part-Time and Full-Time caseloads available in specified areas, with opportunities to grow caseloads in preferred areas within the state of Indiana.

  • Indianapolis Northwestern Corridor (Southwestern Boone County/Western Hamilton County)
  • Indianapolis Southern Corridor (Northern and Central Johnson County/Southeastern Marion County)
  • Caseloads with Specific Location Preferences are available as well within the state of Indiana

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from an accredited college or university and holds a current board certificate from CBMT (Certification Board of Music Therapy), or be eligible to sit for exam-with certification prior to start date.
  • Demonstrate skills in assessment, coordination and implementation of Music Therapy Services
  • Possess a valid driver's license, proof of current auto insurance, and have reliable transportation
  • Working computer is required, a tablet is encouraged
  • Ongoing experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Demonstrate skills in assessment, coordination and implementation of Music Therapy Services
  • An understanding and acceptance of people with various lifestyles and values
  • Ability to communicate adequately with others
  • Ability to accept direction balanced with exceptional independence and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check and a TB screening
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required; Insights will provide this training to those not currently certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Medicaid Waiver is highly valued
  • Three years of experience in providing direct service to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, inclusive of direct supports
  • Background in Neurologic Music Therapy Certification
  • Background in Supported Typing (Facilitated Communication)

Commensurate with experience; very competitive hourly wages that vary with funding source rather than one set hourly wage. Benefits for full-time status of 24 billable clinical hours a week include yearly instrument/materials stipend, yearly continuing education stipend, yearly CBMT certification fee, access to company gym facilities, office center and computer lab 24/7, PTO, holiday, moving and start up loan available upon request, and the availability of health, dental, vision, life, supplemental benefits, FSA and 401K.
